ROCKY RECAP - Living room revamp

Moxie Decor offers decor and staging services to revamp both lived in and vacant spaces.  Below, is a recap of a small living room makeover I did in Philadelphia town home. A fresh coat of paint and mindful space planning can go a long way. Check out the before and afters.

GLAM ROOM E-DESIGN, SPACE PLAN + FURNITURE SELECTION

There are few things that empower me more than seeing savvy creatives thrive in their industry. Recently, a client requested a custom e-design, furniture selection and space planning, for her first makeup studio. Any small business searching for commercial space in a big city will encounter a fair share of obstacles. The challenge here was deciding between a small but prime location or one with square footage to spare, in an unsuspecting area. The client opted for the smaller more central space.

The benefit of e-design service, is that it can incorporate pieces of furniture you already own and/or source decor pieces according to the given budget. In this case, the client already had an antique love seat to jump start the design process. My goal was to optimize every inch of the space and reflect the artists true style.

The burlap on the bottom was extremely worn so I replaced it.

DON'T CALL IT A COMEBACK

"Been here for years!" Perhaps you remember that line from an old school LL Cool J song? Either way, you may have noticed that mad-moxie.com disappeared for a month or so.  Admittedly, what seemed like a minor mistake on my part, ended up erasing the majority of Mad Moxie's content. But alas, we are here. Please check back periodically  to see what projects I have been working on.

Check out this turquoise and cream tweed fabric. I wanted to reupholster the chest with this, but was about a yard short in measurement. :(

The studio space is useful but narrow. Luckily, the loveseat fits right into the width of the room.

Mustard mess turned brilliantly blue

As the daughter of a seamstress and antique collector, I spent countless hours, in my youth, tagging along to various consignment shops and fabric stores.  While it wasn't so much fun back then, it's funny how far apples fall from the tree. Fast forward 20 years, and my favorite activity is cruising consignment shops for low priced furniture to breath a new life into.  Recently, I aimlessly wandered into a Good Will and lucked up on a chest for $15.  The chest was very solid but the mustard colored vinyl had to go. So I stripped it, worked it and put my thang down flipped it and reversed it.  I mean, who doesn't love alternative seating and concealed storage?
